Wedding Mania

Well, we're gaining momentum on this whole wedding deal! The travel information is posted to the main website located at: http://kuenzli.org/

Feel free to review and let us know if there are any mistakes or if you have any difficulties! We have booked our flights at Hawaiian Airlines since they appear to be the least expensive thus far, but look around and let us know if you find anything cheaper such that we can let others know! Also, we are booked at the Outrigger Palms at Wailea!

If you feel like a true player and want to step it up on the hotel scene, the Four Seasons and the Fairmont are located in the area, but just note that those are around $500 a night. :)

Blog Slacker

Yes, I am a blog slacker. Due to Brent Ryan and Kelley Calvert, I am attempting to retify myself from being a blog slacker to a weekly to monthly blog writer due to the "lame" comments received. :)

Last year, 2006, was filled with so many wonderful trips around the world and within the US. Stephen and I ended up going to Costa Rica in January to white water raft down the Pacuare River, as well as zipline through the canopy in Arenal. We were also able to check out the Manuel Antonio National Park in Quepos and the Chachagua Rain Forest Hotel in Fortuna. Outside of Quepos, we managed to stay at a Vanilla Farm in one of their cabins. I definitely had to break out the old (and poor) spanish skills since no english was spoken here, but was able to communicate and learn about the life of the caretaker and his childhood - very interesting!

In May, I was able to visit my friends, Lori and Andy, in Baltimore and eat at the famous Obrycki's Crab House. I also visited with my other friend, Leon, in Washington DC. Talk about sore feet - Leon and I managed to hit a good portion of the major attractions in 1 day (The Mall, Washington Monument, Bureau of Engraving and Printing, the Holocaust Museum, the Lincoln Memorial, the Korean Memorial, the Vietnam Memorial, the Smithsonian Castle, the Museum of Natural History, and Arlington National Cemetary). Since Leon was able to get fifty cent flights (crazy US Airways lottery) from DC to St. Thomas - we went to the Virgin Islands for a few days and stayed in St. John. We managed to hike the Reef Bay Trail and purchase excessive bottles of rum before coming back to the states.

In August, Stephen and I went to Japan to visit my brother. We managed to manuever around the hectic train system in Tokyo and to see all of the wonderful sites like the Tsukiji Fish Market. We even convinced David to go to watch Kabuki. After a little time in Tokyo / Chiba, we headed over to the Nara / Kyoto area. We managed to see the largest bronze Buddha at Todai-ji in the deer park, Nara Koen. We also did the touristy thing and took pictures outside of the Ichiriki Teahouse in Old Kyoto. Later at night, we took in a show to watch Kyoto style dance and were part of a tea ceremony. To complete the trip, we stayed at the Fujitomita Inn, a Japanese ryokan and then hiked Mt. Fuji. We made it to the 8.5 station and stayed at a mountain hut for a few hours of rest and then woke up at 1:45am to hike the rest of the way in the dark (with a headlamp - super cute) to make it to the summit for the sunrise. Very cool experience, although one has to wonder how on earth they are able to get vending machines to the top.

In September, we went to Orlando, Florida for the wedding of our dear friends, Tara and Wes, at Disneyworld. It was a wonderful wedding that went off without a hitch. Definitely fun and totally laid back. While in Florida, we also went to Crystal River to swim with the manatees. Luckily, that river has been grandfathered in and folks are allowed to swim with and touch these wonderful creatures...since Florida law prohibits touching the manatees. With the help of a little bit of spirit fingers, we were able to entertain and rub the bellies of some baby manatees! We also managed a trip to the Kennedy Space Center, the Everglades, and a few days in Miami. WE LOVE MIAMI! Probably not as much as Stephen loves jalapeno poppers, but the love is there! We had drinks at the Delano, visited a regal house - Villa Vizcaya, chilled out on South Beach, and ate/drank anything Cuban we could get our hands on!

In October, we went out to San Diego to drive Horatio's car back to Tucson. He was heading to Iraq and needed some drivers. Stephen signed us up for the job. I was a willing participant only if we could go out to Coronado Island and visit the Hotel Del Coronado, since it's in the 1000 Places to See Before You Die book. While strolling along the beach after we had some drinks at the hotel, Stephen got on one knee and proposed with the "Purple Nugget". This would be a very large mystic topaz cocktail ring that would serve as the surprise ring until we could pick out the real engagement ring together...very crafty and very sweet...

The rest of 2006 has been pretty laid back, with the exception that both Stephen and I switched jobs in Q4. Stephen moved from the IT Process Group to the IT Intranet Group (still working as a software engineer) and I moved from the IT CIM Program Management Office to the Supply Chain Operations Group as an analyst for the Delphi account....that and oh, wedding planning has been in full force... :)

Finally - made it to 2007:

Since I am also getting married this year, Stephen (my fiancee) thought it would be good to snag the jkuenzli@gmail.com email address in case another jkuenzli might try to obtain it ahead of me. Since our wedding date, which is the third of November 2007, is so far off, I thought this idea was a little premature, but better safe than sorry.

I guess this is a decent first start - hopefully, I won't be a blog slacker like before and will attempt to post on a regular basis! Love, Jen
